PRESS RELEASE - FEBRUARY 2006: DR. DAVID SCHROEDER NAMED PRESIDENT AND CEO OF INTERNATIONAL TEAMS USA
Elgin, IL - On January 13, 2006, the Board of Directors of International Teams mission appointed Dr. David E. Schroeder as President and CEO of International Teams USA. Outgoing President Stephen Freed will now serve as International Ministry Leader for the global organization which serves 53 countries.
Dr. Schroeder joined ITeams/USA in August in the area of leadership training and development after resigning as president of Nyack College. At Nyack, he was credited with establishing the Manhattan campus, which began offering full degree programs in 1997, and today serves some 1,200 students. Under David’s leadership, the Nyack student population for the college and seminary more than tripled. As a pastor, missionary and director for higher education, David also served in The Christian and Missionary Alliance (C&MA). Dr. Schroeder has served on the International Teams’ board of directors for four years.
Stephen Freed said, “Leaving my role as President and CEO of ITeams/USA was a somewhat emotional choice... I have a profound passion for what God is doing through International Teams across the world. In many ways I was built for this transition by the Lord for a long, long time. I’m grateful to the International Leadership Team [for the opportunity to serve in the leadership role for the global organization].”
Anthony Jones, Joint Chairman International Leadership Team, wrote in a letter to the staff of ITeams/USA: “These significant reassignments are possible, in part, because of the long-standing, deep friendship and mutual trust between Stephen and David. We firmly believe that both International Teams International and International Teams/USA will benefit greatly by the dynamic synergy that will develop as a result of these changes. We welcome Stephen and David to their new respective roles.”
David Schroeder commented that “From my earliest introduction to ITeams, I thought: ‘Here’s a group who is really doing missions right.’ I resonate with their values, missiology and ethos. That’s why I’m so excited to be part of ITeams, and to have a role in leadership. In my first comments to the Elgin staff I said, ‘As president, I’m looking forward to helping you keep ITeams at the forefront of God’s global plan of building the Kingdom for His Son, Our Savior.’”
As International Ministry Leader, Stephen Freed and his wife Sandi will utilize the ITeams USA office in Elgin, IL, as their home base; much of their work, however, will take place overseas as they assist teams around
the world.
International Teams/USA is a nondenominational, evangelical Christian ministry that works closely with its ITeams partner nations: The Philippines, Canada, United Kingdom, and Australia.
